Zspace Q2C hard-drive compatibility
极空间 publishes an official compatibility page per model — requirements and recommendations, not a per-drive whitelist. This page mirrors the official rules for the Q2C (Q series, 2-bay class) and cross-references the drives that five major vendors officially list.
32 TB
Max per-drive capacity (official)
Official drive requirements
| Item | Official rule (Q2C) |
|---|---|
| Drive bays | 2× 3.5"/2.5" SATA3 bays (2.5" needs no bracket) |
| Minimum capacity | 100 GB actual |
| Maximum capacity | 32 TB per drive |
The official advice, translated
- Standard SATA 3.5"/2.5" drives; on most current models 2.5" drives need no special bracket.
- Avoid SMR (shingled) drives, especially for RAID 1 / RAID 5 — Zspace says the data risk is high. Check any drive's CMR/SMR status on our CMR vs SMR guide.
- For RAID 5, prefer enterprise or NAS-class drives; brand-custom/OEM drives are discouraged (recognition issues).
- Zspace explicitly recommends Seagate IronWolf and WD Red-class NAS drives — the same classes the five HCL vendors certify.
- M.2 slots take NVMe 2280 SSDs; pick durable (high-TBW) models for cache duty.

Drives the other vendors officially list
Zspace names drive classes (IronWolf, WD Red); these are the exact part numbers those classes contain, ranked by how many machines across Synology, QNAP, Asustor, TerraMaster and UGREEN officially list them — the closest thing to a cross-vendor validation of the drives Zspace recommends.
