About this site
nas.kuibu.net exists to answer two questions without forum archaeology: which NAS brand and model should you buy, and which drives does it officially support?
What we cover
The site has five layers:
- Brand guides — every vendor hub (Synology, QNAP, Asustor, TerraMaster, UGREEN, UniFi, fnOS, Zspace, TieNiu) is a full brand profile: company background, product-line map, software ecosystem, honest strengths and weaknesses, and who each brand suits.
- Comparisons — cross-vendor pages that slice the market by drive-bay count, by capacity, and head-to-head drive comparisons.
- Compatibility data — the official drive lists behind everything: which part number each of 819 models lists, at which capacity, refreshed daily from vendor sources (data last refreshed 2026-11-03).
- Security encyclopedia — the ransomware side of NAS ownership: incident histories (eCh0raix, Qlocker, DeadBolt, C3RB3R), per-vendor security guides, CVE breakdowns, the 3-2-1 backup rule, and a 60-second "am I affected?" self-check.
- Tool encyclopedia — one page per backup tool (Veeam, Acronis, Duplicati, Hyper Backup, HBS 3…) and per data-recovery tool (Recuva, R-Studio, UFS Raw, DMDE…), with 2026 prices, real free-tier limits, and dead-array recovery walkthroughs.
Where the data comes from
Every compatibility row is read from official vendor sources — Synology's compatibility tool, QNAP's compatibility database, the Asustor and TerraMaster compatibility pages, UGREEN's official compatibility tool, and Ubiquiti's storage requirements documentation. Five vendors publish per-drive whitelists; UniFi and Zspace publish requirement pages instead, fnOS and TieNiu publish hardware specs — and our pages for those four say so explicitly rather than inventing a list. Security facts (CVEs, incident timelines, decryptor availability) are sourced from vendor advisories, 360's campaign report, KISA/CSA notices and original incident coverage, and incident pages are updated as facts change.
What we add
Vendors publish raw lists; we make them usable: per-machine summaries, capacity distributions, part-number-level pages, series pages (IronWolf, Red Pro, N300…), bay-count comparisons, and plain-English brand and buying guides. All compatibility claims derive from the official lists — we don't guess, and drives not on a list are never presented as certified.
Editorial standards
- If a page says a drive is compatible, the vendor's own list says so — check the source link on every model page.
- Brand-guide facts (founding year, headquarters, product lines) are checked against vendor pages and reputable references; pricing is quoted as street-price bands, not promises.
- Buying recommendations state the reasoning (CMR status, workload class, warranty, ecosystem fit) so you can disagree with us.
- We don't host vendor files or images; all illustrations on this site are generated programmatically.
How we make money
Some links to retailers are affiliate links (at no extra cost to you). This pays for hosting; it does not change rankings or verdicts — our comparison pages are generated from vendor data, not merchant payouts.
